Switch 2 Console Receives Premiere Software Patch Full with Practical Additions
The Switch 2 has gotten its premiere firmware update, version 21.0.0, and while there isn't anything completely game-changing, there are plenty of convenience improvements to be excited about.
Updated Title Badges Offer Visual Clarity
One of the standout additions includes new icons that display on top of a game card, distinguishing whether that title is an original Nintendo Switch edition, updated model, or online copy.
This addition is well received by users, with many applauding it as a "nice touch" that supports render the menu seem more interactive.
Enhanced Player Finding and Voice Chat Options
When locating players to add as a friend, the Find Players You've Interacted With option under Add Friend now covers people you've chatted with in your buddies' voice channels.
With respect to voice communication, various upgrades were added:
- Your software will not automatically go to sleep when using chat.
- A setting to turn off “Chat Audio Panning” has been added.
- Voice remains active if the console switches from docked mode to on-the-go or Table mode, particularly if this scenario causes the connection switching from a ethernet connection to a Wi-Fi one.
Simplified Installs and Gamepad Audio Settings
While downloading various titles simultaneously, you now have the option to stop all downloads with one button press.
With Switch 2 Pro gamepad users, a fresh low-latency audio option was included, enabling you to opt for between “Stable” or “Low Latency” options.
Faster Audio decreases response time relative to “Stable” but may be more subject to problems in various wireless environments.
Digital Title Information Download Improvement
Another notable change allows you to install information for a downloadable software if the “Use Online License” setting is turned off.
This setting is found in the Settings of a digital title when opened via Downloadable Content from the HOME Menu.
Additional Console Enhancements

- Accessibility changes: Audio narration now reads suggested text characters on the Japan layout, and the Text-to-Speech Speed maximum setting got raised from three hundred percent to 400%.
