Historical Information

The former director was the FBI Director from 2013-2017 and was terminated about four months into the former president's first term as national leader. At the moment, he was directing an investigation into international campaign influence and whether there were any relationships between Russia and Trump's campaign.

While in office, the director caused a backlash from the Democratic party when he announced just days before the national vote that he was examining Democratic candidate Clinton's use of a private email server. Charges against Hillary Clinton were never brought, causing criticism from conservative politicians as well.

Public Statements

"My family and I have understood for years that there are costs to challenging Mr Trump," he said. "We refuse to live on our bended knee."
"I am not guilty," he continued. "So let's have a legal proceeding."

The charges against the former director came after Donald Trump shared on digital channels calling for his top legal official, Ms Bondi, take legal action against the former director and others.
