An individual who contaminated candy with sedative and distributed them to youngsters at a summer camp in the area has admitted sexual crimes against two young males aged nine and 10.
The accused was arrested after eight minors and an older person became sick at the location in July.
The senior citizen, from that region, pleaded guilty to a series of 17 offences when he was present at the judicial center on the end of the week.
Yet, he disputed one of the sexual offences he was facing, which was against a nine-year-old child.
Ruben was held in detention ahead of a subsequent court date on late November.
'Treat game'
The prosecutor, handling the case, detailed the defendant's actions to the judicial body.
She said his targets were children from difficult backgrounds who were attending a summer camp which he operated.
The defendant conducted a "sweet game" with the youngsters, Mrs Prior stated, in which he would enter the boys' rooms when they were preparing to sleep and request they to ingest treats "as fast as possible".
She informed the proceedings the man had played this game with the boys "for many years", and minors had previously fallen ill the following morning.
She said Ruben had been successful in rationalizing this repeatedly as the minors being "overwrought by enjoyment", until his stepson had worries in recently.
The prosecutor stated further: "Recently" his stepchild had worries about what was going on, with valid cause.
"They resolved" to investigate in the individual's items."
Mrs Prior KC said objects including baby oil, ointment and medical needles were discovered, and his family member contacted the law enforcement about his worries.
She said the defendant proceeded to engage in the "treat game" with six children that night - Saturday 26 July - and they were all sick the subsequent day.
"The police had not gone out by that time," she added.
The police watchdog, the investigative body, previously told that it was reviewing Leicestershire Police's handling of the incident.
Mrs Prior stated the youngsters were unable to walk properly due to being ill, so Ruben's stepson contacted the police a second time.
She explained the defendant then conducted the "sweet game" in a area of five youngsters.
