Hodgkinson achieved her fastest time of 1:54.61 the previous season in London.

The Olympic champion finished her 800m campaign with a win at the women-only Athlos event in NYC on Friday night.

{The current Olympic gold medallist, who earned bronze at the global championships last month, excelled in an outstanding victory in one minute 56.53 seconds in what was just her sixth appearance in a season affected by a muscle issue.

Fellow Briton and world silver medallist Georgia Hunter Bell took the runner-up spot again in 1:58.33, while St Vincent's Shafiqua Maloney (one minute 58.57) claimed third.

"I haven't competed much this year so it was probably easier for me to go out there and want to give it something," said the 23-year-old.

"The environment out there is incredible so it was really, really fun."

The women-only event filled Icahn Stadium in its second edition, bringing a festive vibe to traditional track, with live music and Tiffany & Co. crowns substituting standard medals.

The tennis legend with 23 major titles Serena W., who is married to the founder of Athlos Alexis O., was on hand to present the victors with their tiaras.

Previous champions took home sixty thousand dollars (forty-four thousand six hundred and three pounds) - among the biggest cash prizes in athletics.

The event also attracted several top athletes, as Kenya's three-time Olympic gold medallist and world record holder Faith Kipyegon triumphed in the mile race, crossing the finish line in four hours 17.78 minutes.

American Brittany B., the 200m bronze medallist from last year's Paris Olympics, secured the sprint double.
